Drive in pallet racking systems are those which are driven into the rack systems using forklifts and then loaded onto horizontal rails. These systems are usually placed against a wall. Warehouses that require a cost effective and high density storage solution generally use drive in pallet racking systems. These are also commonly found in warehouses that store fragile product loads which cannot be stored in block stacks. They are ideal for FILO (First in, last out) storage systems in warehouses.
In these systems, pallets are placed in a manner that they can slide backwards on a rail. This is done in order to create more space in the warehouse by storing them more deeply.
